Delay

Just so you know, it's taking longer than expected to record the new show... a mixture of slow news, technical hitches, and real life have ganged up to get in the way. Shouldn't be too long, keep 'em peeled!

Archives shows

I said in the last post that I thought I could get the old shows back. Turns out, I was almost right; one appears to have vanished into the ether and, unless I'm much mistaken, is gone for good. I'm not even sure which one it *is*, so simply to make numbering easier from now on, I'm going to shuffle them about about, make the two parts of number 5 two seperate shows, and call it a day. 5 files, 5 shows, a fresh start from then on. I'm uploading them now, and I'll add links below as each file is up.

Worth noting is that I felt my home server was probably NOT the safest place to stick these, especially given how crap my ISP is being recently. Luckily, my mind got jogged about archive.org; all files in future will be kept there, which should make them pretty much permanently available forevermore. Oh, and there shouldn't be any more two-parters; archive.org is far less restrictive on file size compared to the amazing disappearing host we had before.

The archived shows follow below; for these, only download the VBR MP3 versions... the others are automatically generated upsampled files, which means more space for less quality. In future, we'll be uploading higher quality files by default. And you can even stream the shows directly from these pages!

Where'd everyone go?

Wow, it's been a while since the last post, huh? If you're reading this, you might be wondering what went off.

Well, so are we.

Click to download any of the previous shows. You'll notice you can't; you get sent to a random "this domain is for sale" page. The site hosting our shows is just plain gone, no warning, no nothing. In a period where the principle people involved are having trouble finding time to meet, something as disheartening as this was just... bad. No show archive, nowhere to host new shows, no RSS feed, no shows being recorded. NewSpeakRadio kinda fell apart.

I'm hoping to pull it back together, perhaps styled slightly differently. One big change is that I now have my own home server, so hosting the shows will no longer be a problem. We've pulled together technology that should let us record the shows at a higher quality without physically having to be together, which means shows that sound clearer, and that we have more opportunities for them. And I have a feeling that I know where copies of the older shows might be found.

It's possible... possible... that NewSpeakRadio maybe be in for a return. I might even be able to pull all the previous hosts back together. Fingers crossed...

Adrian

Edit: Confirmed; there are copies of at least some of the shows still out there, so I'll be able to re-upload the old shows once they get into my hands. For the moment, I've re-directed the links to where they will be held, but I'll point them directly at the files once they're up.

We're still here!

Hi again, loyal fans!

Apologies for no new show as of yet, we've had a lo of real-life instances get in the way.

There should be another show soon, and we have used the time to get a LOT of good stuff for it... I think you'll be pleasantly pleased!

In the meantime, keep checking the site (or, of course, monitoring the RSS feed,) and we'll be back soon!

No show this week

Hi everyone!

Sorry to say, there will be no show this week. We've kinda burnt through a little, and especially with working on show 5 for over half of last week (it took about 5 hours to edit part 1 together) we simply ddn't hae time t find enough interesting news for show 6 yet.

As a result, NSR will not be broadcasting this week. However, we should be back as normal next Tuesday!

Sorry for this break, I may try putting up a little something during the week to make up... if Audacity doesn't crash like it did last time I tried it...

See you soon!

See you next week!

New Speak Radio Show 5 now half up!

Well, we've taken your e-mail into consideration. Show 3 and 4 a little too political for you, a little low on humour? Good call, we thought so too. We've rethought how we research each show, and we like to think you're going to enjoy the changes that're going to start coming.

For now however, we've made the best NSR yet; and the first part can be downloaded by clicking here! (13.9 MB, 61 minutes long.)

I'm not kidding here; we've put in more of the stories you want to hear, and given them that unique NSR spin. Besides, who could but cheer when faced with Kilroy's resignation, laugh when told of the elderly ladies strangled by a bed, or the stone-wielding girl so terrifying that an entire fleet of police complete with helicopter were sent to take her down.

Sometimes, there's a lot of good news out there.

And this week, this is even more true than usual; we had so many funny stories we couldn't bare to lose, that we decided to split the show in two! Hence the above being merely part 1 of show 5... part 2 will be recorded tomorrow night, and should hopefully be up on Thursday evening.

Be prepared for that, but until then, enjoy the show, and take care out there; it's a crazy world.
